Happy Hour: Flirtini

January 30, 2009

The Mom Buzz is bringing you another Valentine’s themed Happy Hour. The FLIRTINI! I, like most people, heard about the Flirtini on Sex in the City. What better place to get some “loooooove” inspiration.

FLIRTINI
1 part Vodka
2 parts Champagne
2 parts Pineapple Juice

DIRECTIONS:
Stir Vodka, Champagne and Pineapple Juice in a mixer with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

And, don’t forget about the Dirty Sue Contest! It ends February 9th at Midnight! Simply come up with a new drink using Dirty Sue! Here is an example of a great recipe from Deirdre!

Dirty Sue Cajun Martini

1oz peppar vodka
2oz vodka
1 splash Dry Vermouth
1 splash Dirty Sue
2 large jalapeno-stuffed green olives

Mix vodkas, vermouth and Dirty Sue in cocktail shaker with ice. Shake, then strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with olives.

What can you come up with?

Blogger Buzz: Sweet ‘n Sassy Girls

January 30, 2009

I met Trisha from Sweet ‘n Sassy Girls through MomDot. And now she and I work on PlayDate Picks together, along with 5 other fabulous mom-bloggers. So, let’s take a closer look at her site!

1. What’s your blog about?
My blog is all about moms, or things moms would be interested in. I like to do giveaways, product reviews, and basically just blog about anything.

2. Do you own any other blogs?
I have Cutie Covers, my boutique blog where I sell nursing covers and baby leg warmers. Then I also have one for family and friends to show off pictures of my daughter.

(I love your leg warmers! So sassy!)

3. Favorite post from your blog?
My favorite is my tutorial of how to make a tutu dress.

(I love that post! I really want to try it one day. And I am positive I buzzed about your tutorial at Ohana Mama!)

4. What’s one piece advice you’d give the bloggers who read this?
Don’t be afraid to try new things. The worst thing that can happen is it doesn’t work out, but hey, maybe you find something you are good at!

5. What’s a must-read blog – besides your own!
Momdot.com. I am there all day long, and always checking the forum. There are so many wonderful people on there, and that’s where I’ve gained most of my “bloggy friends.”

So now you know! You can find Trisha at Cutie Covers, Sweet ‘n Sassy Girls, MomDot and PlayDate Picks! You can also follow her updates and tweets on Twitter: http://twitter.com/strawberryredx2

Erin Needs…

January 29, 2009

Yesterday I saw that Small Town Mommy was playing a game where you go to Google and do a search with your first name followed by needs. Put the search in quotes. For example, “Erin needs”. Here are my results:

First I got: Auntie Erin needs a drink.

How did they know?

Then I got: Erin Needs Another Miracle!

That would be nice.

The final one was: Erin needs to wear shirts.

LMAO! Uh. Interesting? And fun. You can see in my Vlogs I do wear shirts. And pants. And hats. Fully dressed mama here.

Those were my first 3 responses. It’s fun and simple to play along! Leave me your link so I can read yours.

Shabby Baby Princess

January 29, 2009
My sister is entering my niece into the Shabby Baby Picture Princess Contest.
Here is her entry!

My daughter Skyler Lily is the perfect posh princess because she is picturesque, sassy, lovely, intelligent, well-mannered, mischievous, clever, witty, strong, empathetic, affectionate, athletic, coordinated, brave and mommy’s best friend. She is the epitome of girl power and would be picture-perfect posing in Shabby Apple’s Sonny & Cher dress. What a character, what a tan, what a princess!

Without a doubt, you will want to check it out for your princess. Little Girls and Little Girls Dresses from Shabby Baby are simply chic and perfect for the upcoming Easter holiday!

Stubby Pencil Studio: Flip & Tumble

January 29, 2009

I am always on the lookout for awesome, reusable bags. I am tired of carrying huge totes and want something (stylish) that rolls small, so I can stick it in my diaper bag and pull it out during surprise shopping trips.

“Roll, Erin?” you ask. “You mean, fold?”

Nah, I mean Flip & Tumble! These are totes – the perfect size for surprise shopping – that go from a bag to a ball in seconds! Plus, they come in gorgeous hues! I love my aqua/sky bag!

Now, why should we want to use these totes anyways? Well, did you know the average person in the USA goes through 332 bags a year? And plastic bags last around for 500+ years. Oh My Goodness! For just a quick run to the store to pick up some icecream fruit, they stick it in a plastic bag, and now the environment is stuck with that bag for over 500 years!

Now, where did I find this awesome tote? At Stubby Pencil Studio! That’s where you will find earth-friendly art supplies like crayons made from soy, sketchbooks and journals made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper, pencils made from sustainably harvested wood and recycled newspapers. You’ll also discover natural play dough, non-toxic toys and wooden craft kits that are made in the USA, and many other fun and creative eco products for children.

WIN WIN WIN!
Stubby Pencil Studio offered one eco-trendy reader a chance to win a Flip & Tumble of their very own. And here is how:

MANDATORY ENTRY:
Visit Stubby Pencil Studio and tell me three things you would purchase (and stick in your Flip & Tumble).

EXTRA ENTRIES:

To receive these extra opportunities for entries, you must fulfill the first REQUIRED entry. But for extra entries, you can (leave a comment for each):

These are the only extra entries for this contest. Contest ends 2/14. Please refer to complete rules.
