Still want more awesome ideas for pooltime fun? Well, have you heard about the SubSurfer from Swimways? It’s an underwater surfboard that lets you surf, without fear of hitting the water or falling off since you are already in it. When I heard about it, I knew it would be perfect for my agile, athletic nephew to try out, since it is recommended for ages 8 and up.
Sure enough, he was thrilled to try out this cool new toy! After all, he was able to work a Shred Sled on land – how hard could the SubSurfer be? Well, he reported that it was simply fun! Once he was able to find his “balance” under water (yes – you are submerged underwater), he could hang ten with the best of them!
The board is a great length for older children – 3 feet in length. It is almost a foot wide. This helps create buoyancy for older (heavier) children. You don’t just want the board to sit on the bottom of the pool, know-what-I-mean? There are all sorts of bumps and treads on it, so they don’t lose their footing in the water. And there are cool fins to help with maneuverability when doing ollies. (Got to love my surf-lingo!)
Right now there are 3 colors to choose from – blue, green and orange. Knowing SwimWays, I am positive some cool patterns and colors are right around the corner. I favor the orange color, but my nephew received the blue to try.
Overall, this is a great toy to keep kids ACTIVE and COOL this summer! While in the pool, he only knew he was having a blast. But my sister and I know he was actually improving his balance, coordination, dexterity, agility and working quite a few muscles!
You can use Swimways product locator to learn where you can purchase the SubSurfer. I saw it at FatBrainToys on sale for $21.95.
(Note: As soon as I get pictures from my sis, I will put them up on the Mom Buzz so you can see it in action!)
